Watertap in Matsangoni trade centre.

Watertap in Matsangoni trade centre.

We have achieved a great deal in Kenya

I have been in Kenya from 15 February till 15 March. I’ve checked the status of our projects and found out with what new projects we can proceed. I came back with a good feeling. We have been able to achieve a lot!

–    The well of our project in 2014 is made open again. It was silted in the past period. There has been drilled a new hole 2 meters away from the old hole. The new hole goes 60 metres into the ground.

–    We have placed a water tap at our project in the trade centre of Matsangoni. The water tap will be used as a water distribution centre. The public toilet looked great and is well maintained.

We could carry out these two projects thanks to the contributions of Den Dulk fish market in Scheveningen and Get It Done and with the proceeds of our benefit evening of 20 November 2014.

During my stay in Kenya, we received a very large additional donation of Buis Management. With that we could realize a third project. We have been able to set up a small building with a public toilet, shower, sink for doing hand washing and water tap for water on the side of the building in a village of Matsangoni.
Thanks a lot, Buis Management, on behalf of the inhabitants of Matsangoni!

Economic growth thanks to our projects

We are working more closely together now with the local government in Kilifi county. I was welcomed with open arms by the population and by Governor Mr. Hassan Mwesh. He is extremely happy with our work.

Mr. Mwesh also told me that the projects of our Foundation have the effect that small shopping centres emerge. I was shocked because with my Western thinking I thought: Oh dear, that’s the end of the quietness in this beautiful nature! But in the village that was not a problem. “Now we don’t have to walk so far anymore to buy sugar or other groceries”, was their reaction. Also the school which is located not far from the water pump and the public toilet, is happy with the toilet and shower building close by.
Everyone was overjoyed and did not know what happened to them.
So our projects create economic growth! Phoe, I needed some time to let this sink in. I had never figured out, that I could bring about those effects. Awesome!

We have been given the NGO certificate

After a lot of hassle we have received the official NGO certificate. We first had to do with a mediator who turned out to be not reliable. We had paid him the money to settle the case, but he had done nothing. With the help of Governor Mr. Mwesh and Mr. Ceasar Ngule, the mediator of Wilde Ganzen in Kenya, we have recovered our money. Then we could resubmit the application for the NGO certificate. And we have gotten it. A milestone for our Foundation!

Consultation with Wilde Ganzen

After my return from Kenya I have had a talk with Wilde Ganzen, together with Jos Fluitsma. We have talked about the progress of our new well project in the spring of 2016. We are going to raise funds for that now in a very active way. Wilde Ganzen increases the amount we collect ourselves by 33% of that amount.
